Innovative municipal course one of top five honorees in the world

Hobbs, New Mexico (February 8, 2016)—New Mexico’s Rockwind Community Links has earned another significant accolade with Golf Inc. Magazine’s selection as a 2015 Development of the Year. Rockwind is one of only five courses from four countries to be honored with the prestigious designation in the publication’s annual competition that evaluates the best new private and public courses.

Since opening in May 2015, Rockwind has garnered national recognition for architect Andy Staples’ innovative ‘community links’ concept that unites golf with other recreational opportunities for Hobbs city residents and visitors. The American Society of Golf Course Architects presented Staples with one of its 2015 Design Excellence Awards. And Golf Digest chose Rockwind Community Links as one of the Best New Courses of 2015.

Golf Inc. judges candidate courses for its Development of the Year contest based on development vision, aesthetics, routing and sustainability, which examines the economic and environmental impact the courses will have for years to come.
